VRAP 2013 Employment Situation Report Information

Department of Veterans AffairsYesterday the Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released their “Employment Situation of Veterans - 2013” report which summarized the 2013 annual data and also includes employment information on Veterans with service-connected disabilities as well as Veterans who served in the National Guard/Reserves. The data on Veterans with service-connected disabilities and those who served in the Guard/Reserves is collected once each year in August and then reported out the following March.

Important Info Regarding VRAPS

U.S. Department of Veterans AffairsMany of you have heard about some changes in the VRAP program so I thought it might be useful to try and provide you with some direct information.

Bottom line, given that the statute directs VA that we do not have the authority to pay VRAP benefits after 31 March 2014, the decision was made to compute and distribute a lump sum payment for those Veterans still enrolled in March 2014 to enable them to complete their current term of instruction between now and June 30th.  It does not provide anyone more than the original program’s 12 months of benefits.

Housing Grants for Injured and Disabled Vets

U.S. Department of Veteran AffairsSpecially Adapted Housing Grants for Wounded Warriors and Disabled Veterans

Are you a Veteran with a severe service-connected disability that affects your mobility?  Do you know someone who is?  If you answered “Yes” to either question, then you or someone you know may be eligible for the Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) grant program that is administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

GI Bill Benefits Comparison Tool

Department of Veterans AffairsThanks to VA’s new GI Bill® Comparison Tool, you can now find information online about Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits and the schools and training programs available to education beneficiaries.  Before this tool launched, estimating how much beneficiaries may receive under the Post-9/11 GI Bill benefit was challenging. The new comparison tool makes it easy to estimate Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits with just one click.

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)Recently I met with the Federal Aviation Administration senior leadership – they plan to hire over 600 new Air Traffic Control Specialists … and want as many of them as possible to be Veterans.
